Metadata

Here's an example of the minimum information that should be entered on an image. The most important information is the name of the creator on all of the relevant fields pertaining to 'creator', 'owner' 'copyright' etc.

IPTC

Place your website or email address under 'source' on the 'IPTC' fields. Under 'Special Instructions' I added the following text: This image is ©Copyright of (your name) and protected by UK & International Copyright Laws. The image may not be saved, downloaded, stored, copied, adapted or reproduced in any form without prior explicit written permission. All rights reserved.

EXIF

Under 'User comment' in the 'EXIF' I added: This image is ©Copyright of (your name) and protected by UK & International Copyright Laws. The image may not be saved, downloaded, stored, copied, adapted or reproduced in any form without prior explicit written permission. All rights reserved. Moral rights asserted in all countries and under any acts that may require such assertion.

Please feel free to adapt the above text to your own name and/or company name. Please do not use my name or my company name ('Wolf Photography') for your images.

You may have the ability to change these details on an image withing the graphics package that you use - including the 'xmp data', which should also be edited if possible. If you don't have that function, there is a free program that will help you edit the metadata on your images if your current graphics package doesn't allow it:

As an added precaution, the page containing your images should also have the 'Right Click' browser option disabled, the save image option disabled, a watermark across the image stating that it is protected by copyright and a company logo should hide a bottom corner of the image. Please see 'Websites' for more information.
